Our Training Courses

This two-day, hands-on workshop will prepare your technician so your shop can start saying “yes” to Tesla owners in your market.

Training assumes little to no experience diagnosing and repairing Tesla vehicles. As always with Earthling classes, class size is limited to a maximum of 4 students. We will have multiple Teslas to work on.

Learning objectives include:

• Accessing Tesla service information, wiring diagrams, and TSBs
• Diagnosing using Tesla Toolbox, service mode, and Service Mode Plus
• Tesla maintenance intervals, requirements, and challenges
• Special procedures for replacing 12V or 16V batteries
• Creating a parts account, ordering parts, and ordering special tooling (SSTs)
• High-voltage safety procedures which are unique to Tesla
• Lifting the vehicle without damaging the battery pack
• Battery pack charging, supercharging, pre-conditioning, and charging diagnosis
• Diagnostic processes that are built into the car (no scan tool needed)
• Real-world case studies from our shop

And yes, many of our graduates are now servicing and repairing Teslas!

This three-day, hands-on hybrid/EV workshop takes technicians beyond minor repair, maintenance, and the occasional Prius battery pack replacement, delving deep into hybrid and EV powertrain component operation. Boost your scan tool and service information proficiency so you can diagnose and sell with confidence. We will have multiple hybrids and EVs for students to work on.

Learning objectives include:

• Understanding and identifying modes of operation from scan data
• Accurate diagnosis of hybrid battery packs and battery pack components
• How the inverter and boost converter control motor-generators
• Brake-by wire systems and fail-safe modes
• Distinguishing inverter faults from transaxle faults
• Hybrid and EV charging system faults
• Diagnosing hybrid engine no-starts from scan data
• Real-world case studies from our shop, as always!
